Thomas & Boo Britcher
Jane Britcher wrote to tell us about two cats she adopted from Chestnut Cat Sanctuary in 2006 - Thomas, and Boo!
I have just seen your new website and the stories page, and thought you would like to hear about my chief vandal Thomas and his sidekick, Boo, whom I adopted from you in May 2006.
After losing my previous Chestnut cat Sooty to kidney failure, I revisited Chestnut and was introduced to Boo, a very shy 6-year old female with the most magnificent green eyes who was in a pen with her brother, Thomas.
I hadn't planned to get another cat at that time, but I am so glad I did, although my two are "terrors" they are wonderful companions and I much look forward to going home after work and unwinding with them.
Thomas, AKA Thomas Tealeaf, is the outgoing, affable, confident one who likes to greet people when they arrive and see people off when they leave.
Thomas absolutely adores food; he wolfs his food back in 30 seconds and then pushes Boo out of the way to eat hers. He knows exactly where the biscuit tin is and as soon as the cupboard opens, in he goes and helps himself.
Thomas also likes to talk a lot. He does have some bad points like hanging off the curtains and taking the stuffing out of my spare chair but Thomas is a real character and I wouldn't change anything about him.
Boo (AKA Boo-Boo) Thomas' sister is the quiet one who has to gain the confidence of people before she will meet them. Boo loves a good old cuddle and kisses.
Boo likes to sit on my bag when I come home; enjoys a walk round the sink in the bathroom and will pat the water - but she doesn't like getting her feet wet!
She also loves sitting on the edge of my chair and watching TV.
I bought them both a radiator bed to share or use singly: Boo likes to curl up and sleep in the scoop bit with the radiator on; Thomas, who is just different, likes to sit on the top bit curls up and goes off to sleep.
Here are a few pictures of Thomas and Boo, some taken this year and one from 2006.
It's great to hear how they're getting on - thanks for your email and photos!
