Slocombe

Slocombe, named after Mrs Slocombe, is a mature lady cat who's retired to an uptown flat in downtown Chelmsford. We'll say nothing, and just let the very articulate Slocombe do the talking!

Dear Chestnut Cat Sanctuary,
Just a short note to let you know what I'm up to. It's Tammy here, or rather...I now go by the name of 'Slocombe'.

I was rehomed around the time of the passing of the actress Mollie Sugden (Mrs. Slocombe on Are You Being Served), and somehow I picked up the new name 'Slocombe'!

Slocombe, named after Mrs Slocombe, is a mature lady cat who's retired to an uptown flat in downtown Chelmsford.I was a little nervous that you were sending me away with an American, but happily everything came out ok. I have adjusted to my life as an uptown flat cat in downtown Chelmsford.

Just because I'm 11 and a flat cat doesn't mean I live the retired life though! I have a pretty busy routine keeping an eye on things.

Slocombe, named after Mrs Slocombe, is a mature lady cat who's retired to an uptown flat in downtown Chelmsford. In the morning I watch the people going into work from my window view a few floors up. Here I am in the cardboard box I comandeered, always vigilant to go after any bear on a string which comes my way.

I like my new flat a lot, especially looking out the windows or sleeping in their sunlight. I like to catnap here too, they're double-glazed so I can snooze.

Even while asleep though, I keep one ear always listening for guests to arrive, so that I can run and greet them at the door.

I know you may have been a little worried about the roof terrace.
Here I am on my lead, enjoying the view at the end of a hard day of work.

Slocombe, named after Mrs Slocombe, is a mature lady cat who's retired to an uptown flat in downtown Chelmsford.I'm not especially interested in the world out there, unless my person is there, and if so, I take the chair next to her. Ah, this is the retired life!

Hugs and kisses from Chelmsford,
Slocombe (and the American too)

Many thanks for your lovely email and photos!
