Bernie

Bernie, a 1 year old tabby boy adopted from Chestnut Cat SanctuaryJenny and Matt wrote to us about a 1 year old tabby boy they adopted from us recently...

Dear Chestnut Cat Sanctuary,

Myself (Jenny Boyle) and my partner Matt visited the Chestnut Cat Sanctuary last Saturday and consider ourselves very lucky to have taken home a 1 year old tabby boy we've named Bernie. We're really thrilled with him! Thank you for your time last Saturday, we'd recommend everyone to come to yourselves for re-homing a cat.

He'd like to tell you all about his new life.........

Well hello!

After a bit of a rough start in life, I'm super-pleased to tell you I'm very happy in my new home. I live in a nice house in St Albans where I get to run around quite a few rooms don't you know! And I love running - I can do laps in a really fast time, UP and DOWN the stairs. Sometimes I get a nice treat when I've done lots of exercise too - I like those fishy biscuits, but only a few and I'm off again.
Pretty soon I'm going to go outside and investigate the garden too - Jenny says we should try me on a collar and lead but Matt says I'll look like a right Charlie. I say my name's Bernie not Charlie so I KNOW the boys will win that one!

Bernie, a 1 year old tabby boy adopted from Chestnut Cat SanctuarySpeaking of my name, in full it's Bernard Sausage. And that's Bernard pronounced the posh way, as in Bernaaaaard. Sausage is just sausage. Jenny thinks it's very funny. Matt less so. Still, I do come running when I hear my name and usually announce my presence by wrapping around someone's legs and asking for a tickle under the chin.

I've only been here a week and I think it's fair to say I've had a complete personality over-haul. I was a bit wary to start off with as I didn't know who to trust anymore. But now I cuddle up like the lovely boy I really am. I've even started to sneak up on the bed at night for a snuggle.

When I'm really relaxed I roll right over and show everyone my stripy tummy. I've sort of taken over one room with all my toys and stuff. My favourite toy is mouse that I can wrestle with.

Bernie, a 1 year old tabby boy adopted from Chestnut Cat SanctuaryBut my favourite thing to do is watch the fish in the tank. I'd eye-ball them all night if I could but Jenny & Matt say the fish would find it too stressful. Here is a picture of me showing the fish my super-big teeth. Just right for fishing. YUM!

And just to show you what a big boy I'm going to be, check out this photo of me snoozing - how big are my feet!?

So thank you Chestnut Cat Sanctuary for looking after me so very nicely. I might come and visit one day to show you the all-new super-chilled Bernie!

Lots of love,
Bernie xxx

Thanks for your letter and photos!
